incorrectness of this page.
There are very few Irish family tartans, unlike Scotland where there
are hundreds. At this time an exact Laverty-only family
tartan is not known, however there are some
As is the case with many Irish surname tartans, there
are several that are appropriate for Laverty. The first appropriate tartan
is a family (or clan) tartan. A
clan is defined as a social group whose core comprises a number of
families derived from a common ancestor. Most people of Irish
heritage wear the tartan of the county or province where their families
lived, known as a district tartan.

The first one is the O'Neill
tartan, Laverty being a branchline relative.
